working with sara
shoot list The clients who get the best images from Sara are the ones who ask her to follow her eye and create her art. She is happy, however, to consider any special needs you may have. Please review the photography you already have and let her know if you need anything special. The subjects Sara typically concentrates on include portraits, winery interiors and exteriors, winemaking, and people working. typical schedule Sara’s images are all about beautiful light. This means getting up early to take advantage of the softer early morning light. Sara likes to be on location in the vineyard a half hour before sunrise. She will shoot vineyard landscapes, then, as the light gets stronger, people working in the vineyard and portraits, followed by winery exteriors. Sara prefers to shoot outdoors when her shadow is taller than she is, which is to say, when the sun is low in the sky, the shadows are long, and the light is a golden color. When the sun gets too high in the sky, and the light becomes white and strong, it’s usually time to take a break for breakfast. Afterward, Sara goes into the cellar for the rest of the morning. After lunch, depending on the season and the length of the day, Sara may take a rest, going back into the vineyard later in the afternoon when the shadows become more interesting and the light turns golden, shooting up until sunset. vehicles The best way to get the camera elevated for a good view over the vineyard is to use a big truck with a flat bed in the back, where Sara can set up her tripod. It is helpful if someone who knows the vineyards very well and has a truck can take her around. This person is often a vineyard manager. A palate jack or forklift is good to get up high to do overall shots of the winery from a higher perspective. |
